Evanna Lynch to Celebrate New Book with Live Event

Loved by Harry Potter fans for her wonderful portrayal of the quirky Luna Lovegood in the franchise’s film series, Evanna Lynch is celebrating the publication of her new book with an exclusive live event.

Since the Potter franchise ended, Lynch, a vegan, has become well known for her animal rights activism, working with several animal rights and welfare charities along the way, and acting as a role model for those recovering from anorexia.

Lynch’s new book is titled The Opposite of Butterfly Hunting: The Tragedy and the Glory of Growing Up, and it delves into the “pivotal moments and choices in her life that led her down the path of creativity and dreaming and away from the empty pursuit of perfection, and reaches towards acceptance of the wild, sensual and unpredictable reality of womanhood.”

An Evening with Evanna Lynch will explore her book while also sharing stories about her experience filming the Harry Potter movies and the crazy story of how she got cast as Luna Lovegood.

Live in conversation, Evanna will discuss the growing up on[-]screen, the messiness of adulthood, and her battle between perfection and creativity. Delving into the very heart of a woman’s relationship with her own body, she will sensitively explore how she overcame an eating disorder and confronted the wild, sensual and unpredictable reality of womanhood, all whilst being in the glare of the spotlight of international fame.

The evening will be “entertaining and compelling” as Lynch confronts the complexities and contradictions within herself, including the “glory of growing up, of mourning girlhood and stepping into the unknown, and how that act of courage is the most creatively liberating thing a woman can do.”

The Opposite of Butterfly Hunting is currently available for preorder in audiobook, e-book, and hardback, and it will be released on October 14, the same day the live event is taking place at Shoreditch Town Hall, London, where she will be signing books afterward.

Don’t worry if you can’t get there in person; the event is also being livestreamed worldwide for online viewing, and the first 100 people to book the “Book and Stream” package will receive a signed copy of Evanna’s book. The stream will also be available for one week on demand after the initial broadcast, meaning you can watch it afterward if the time doesn’t suit your time zone.

It sounds like it’s going to be a very interesting night! Will you be joining Evanna in person or on-screen for this exciting event?
