Hogwarts in Dubai: Mall of the Emirates to Host “Harry Potter” Installation for Dubai Shopping Festival

Starting this week, fans in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, will be able to visit Hogwarts in their own backyard. Of course, not really, but it’ll be the next best thing. For a month, beginning on January 10 and ending on February 10, Mall of the Emirates will be hosting a Potter-themed experience complete with re-creations of beloved locations from the Harry Potter movies series.

In collaboration with Warners Bros., the Harry Potter – Celebrate Hogwarts experience promises to feature “an artistic large-scale interpretation of some of the most iconic and well-known locations from the Harry Potter films.” Considering the name, we can probably expect incredible re-creations of the many rooms and chambers of Hogwarts. Unfortunately, we don’t yet know the full details about which locations will be featured, but let’s hope that the organizers, at the very least, replicate the Great Hall, Hagrid’s hut, and Dumbledore’s office.

Alongside the installations, attendees should expect photo opportunities, games, and entertainment. Witches and wizards will also be able to nab all of their wizarding needs at the pop-up retail shop. To gain admission to this wonderful event, each person must spend at least د.إ300 (approximately $82) across Mall of the Emirates.

This experience is part of the Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF), an annual retail event lasting six weeks. Originally beginning in 1996, the festival includes live entertainment, pop-up shops, incredible raffles, and large-scale attempts to break world records. In fact, the festival is known for setting several Guinness World Records, including unveiling the world’s largest gold ring in 2009 and setting up the world’s longest food buffet in 2004.

Overall, it seems that Dubaians like to go big for DSF, so it’s not surprising that they’d want to do something memorable for Potter fans. Also, it seems like this will be the first event of its kind in the region, so it’s something that any Potter fan in the area shouldn’t miss out on.

While it won’t be in time for the 20th anniversary of the theatrical release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, it comes after so many wonderful events that took place in the real world, such as the incredible wand installation in Leicester Square in the United Kingdom and the opening of Harry Potter New York in the United States. Last year was a great year for Potter fans, and it looks like 2022 is shaping up to be another good year for witches and wizards all over the world.

Starting on January 10 and ending on February 10, the Harry Potter – Celebrate Hogwarts experience will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Mall of the Emirates. It will be located next to the Kempinski Hotel entrance and the Ski Dubai resort.

Will you be attending the Harry Potter – Celebrate Hogwarts experience? Are you excited about it? Let us know in the comments and be sure to tag us in any photos from the event on Instagram.

"Hogwarts is my home!" is a phrase that I've uttered more times than any sane person should (and my long-suffering friends can attest to it.) For as long as I can remember, I've always found myself escaping reality into the wizarding world to feel at peace. Instead, I'm more likely wandering the suburbs of South Florida shouting choice "Harry Potter" and Batman quotes at unsuspecting victims.
