Mirvish Makes Magic as “Cursed Child” Set to Premiere in Toronto Later This Month

This month, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will have its Canadian premiere when the Toronto production of the play opens at the CAA Ed Mirvish Theatre on May 31. Leading up to opening night, Mirvish Productions – having joined forces with the Cursed Child producers for this production – has been sending out monthly updates through its “Magic in the Six” newsletters.

So far, fans have gotten a look at the renovations made to the CAA Ed Mirvish Theatre, from new carpeting to custom wallpapers. A look at the Hogwarts House banners on the theater’s exterior on Victoria Street was also revealed.

Both Mirvish Productions and the Toronto Star have provided a look at the first costume fitting for Fiona Reid (Minerva McGonagall/Dolores Umbridge), including the video we’ve embedded below.

The March newsletter provided an article all about the production’s Sorting Hat, Kaleb Alexander, while the April edition followed Katie Ryerson (Moaning Myrtle) through the first day of rehearsals.

Additional coverage of the first day of rehearsals has been provided by Global News.

Plus, if you’re looking for a place to stay, Mirvish Productions has announced special rates in partnership with Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel.
