“Fantastic” Performance by “Secrets of Dumbledore” on Blu-ray and DVD Sales Charts

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore soared to the top of the Blu-ray and DVD sales charts in the final week of June. Released in DVD format on June 28, the film earned the No. 1 spot on the NPD VideoScan First Alert chart, which takes into consideration both DVD and Blu-ray unit sales, as well as on the dedicated Blu-ray disc sales chart.

Second on both lists was DreamWorks Animation’s film The Bad Guys, followed by the recent Marvel film Morbius. Another notable chart-topper included the original Top Gun, coming in fourth on the NPD VideoScan First Alert chart and seventh on the dedicated Blu-ray disc sales chart in anticipation of its sequel’s disc release.

Secrets of Dumbledore ranked high on the rental chart also. The film came in third on the list, after The Bad Guys and Morbius, respectively.

Though box office figures were somewhat lackluster, grossing just $405 million worldwide, Secrets of Dumbledore‘s disc sales are a testament to the endurance of the franchise’s popularity, as well as, perhaps, the allure of special features. The DVD will include an extra titled “The Magic of Hogwarts,” as will the Blu-ray set, which comes with the additional titles “Battle in Bhutan,” “The Candidates’ Dinner,” “A Dumbledore Duel,” “The Dumbledore Family Tree,” “Dumbledore Through the Ages,” “Erkstag Jailbreak,” “Even More Fantastic Beasts,” “The German Ministry of Magic,” “Magical or Muggle,” “Newt in the Wild,” and “The Secrets of Cursed Child.”
