Original “Harry Potter” Cast Members React to New Max Series – Part 3
An open casting call has been posted for the Harry Potter TV show, seeking young actors to play Harry, Ron, and Hermione, and while they may now be too old to play their original characters, the film series’ original cast members are still having a say in the new Max reboot.
We’ve already covered the reactions of Harry Potter himself, Daniel Radcliffe; director David Yates; and others in Part 1, and James and Oliver Phelps, Tom Felton, and more in Part 2. Read on to discover more of the original cast’s reactions.
Bonnie Wright
Wright told Variety that she wants to see more scenes that didn’t make it from the books into the films, including more key moments between Harry and Ginny as their relationship turns from friends to romantic.
There’s nuanced moments of where they begin to fall in love. I think more of that arc of her character becoming this real loyal sidekick to Harry and how she really understands and knows his story and who he is and is the best partner for him. So I just hope we see that evolution of that character — and so many characters. If only we could have had five-hour movies. There are so many characters that have moments I love from the books — Neville and Luna — so I’m hoping as a fan of the books that I get to see more.
When asked whether she would join the new TV show as another character or to make a cameo, Bonnie said “it might be weird” given there will be new actors playing their original characters, and she is therefore “happily just going to be watching.”
She also discussed with People her excitement at seeing a new take on the wizarding world. “All the characters, you can interpret them a billion different ways, so I’m excited to see how they’re interpreted,” Wright said.
Interestingly, while she said in her Variety interview that she would be watching the new TV show rather than taking part in it, she told People that she would “never say never, never say no” when asked if she would like to play Ginny in the new show, stating, “I would be [open], I’m ready.”
Gary Oldman
When asked if he would be up for playing Sirius Black in the TV show, Oldman said he’s not been approached and joked that in a few years’ time, he could play Professor Dumbledore instead. Watch the interview in the video below.

Matthew Lewis
Speaking previously about the TV show at MegaCon, Matt said that if he could take on a role in it, he would choose Professor Lupin.
Lewis has once again discussed the possibility of joining in with the upcoming reboot, telling People it would be a tough decision to make if he was called up tomorrow and asked to take part.
It’s not something I’m looking at or want to do but would not turn my nose up at. I’d be very interested to see if it was Neville as an adult — a whole different vibe. That could be interesting. I would certainly look at that and consider it.
Are there any actors you think would be a great fit for the new TV show, and do you think any of the original cast from the Harry Potter films will be a part of it?
