Children’s charity brings magic of Studio Tour London to children with life-threatening illnesses

by Mary Wojcicki · September 18, 2014

Just yesterday, we reported on the upcoming obstacle run for charity in which the staff of Warner Bros. Studio Tour London is set to partake later this week. As it turns out, this is far from the only charitable good that the Studio Tour has been up to lately! As reported by the Daily Star, Warner Bros. Studio Tour London recently opened its doors to some very special guests: children from the British charity When You Wish Upon a Star, an organization that works to grant the wishes of pediatric patients with life-threatening illnesses.

Given the opportunity to explore the sets of the Harry Potter films, try out a ride on a broomstick, and more, the children were able to enjoy a day free of the challenges they ordinarily face. The mother of seven-year-old Max Twigg (pictured above), who was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy as an infant, talked about how thrilled her son was to meet Hogwarts Quidditch players:

Meeting the Quidditch players has definitely been the highlight of his day. He loves it.

For others, such as nine-year-old leukemia patient Rhianna Burrows, the excitement was just in being there. Rhianna, who finished her cancer treatment in June, said,

I have two favorites from Harry Potter: Harry and Hermione. I’ve got Hermione’s wand, but I can’t cast any spells yet.

Pam Morley, whose 13-year-old son James – “a massive fan of Harry Potter” – has also recently completed treatment for leukemia, had nothing but glowing words about the experience:

When You Wish Upon a Star [has] been amazing in helping us through James’s treatment. They’re our fairy godmothers. It’s incredible the work they do for families like us.
