Cast Reveals the Magic of “Cursed Child” in Words and Pictures

by Jessica Barber · July 20, 2017

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has been raking in accolades such as the Olivier Awards and the WhatsOnStage Awards, selling out every round of tickets and filling Potter fans’ conversations since it opened on July 30, 2016. With a new cast and a Broadway premiere set for next year, it doesn’t look like it’s going away anytime soon.

The new cast of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child took the stage at the Palace Theatre in London for the first time on May 24. Now that the actors have had a couple of months to settle into their roles, they’re talking about the experience of bringing these beloved characters to life for theater audiences. This week, the Cursed Child Twitter account has been posting these comments from the stars of the show.

Jamie Glover (Harry) and Emma Lowndes (Ginny) enjoy connecting with the audience through a story and characters that already hold deep meaning for them:

Rakie Ayola (Rose) and Thomas Aldridge (Ron) are thrilled to play the parts of such beloved characters:

James Howard (Draco) enjoys delving into the past and future of the complex Malfoy family, while Jamie Glover (Harry) shows the struggles Harry still faces as he continues to try to adapt to his newer role as a father.

The younger generation of the cast, including Helen Aluko (Rose), Theo Ancient (Albus), and Samuel Blenkin (Scorpius) love being part of the production, exploring hidden depths of the story, and connecting with the audience at every performance:

The enthusiasm the stars have for the play and their characters is obvious. It looks like great things are in store for Cursed Child as it nears its anniversary on West End!

The only problem, of course, is managing to get your hands on those elusive tickets! Though Cursed Child tickets are notoriously hard to come by, all hope may not be lost! The next round of advance tickets won’t be released until autumn of this year, but there are other opportunities to snag seats. Returned and late-release tickets could become available at any time, so keep an eye out for any that might open up! If you’re feeling lucky, you might try to buy a ticket through the Friday Forty lottery, when 40 tickets for the next week’s performances are released and sold online. Keep an eye on the website for release times each week, and be ready to click when the countdown stops!

For residents of the UK and Republic of Ireland, there is one more opportunity to find seats at the Palace Theatre. This week, Bloomsbury’s Wizarding Wednesdays prize is a pair of tickets to see Cursed Child and meet the cast members; if you’ve entered the competition before, you are already entered for the tickets.

Are you excited about the new cast of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child? Have you gotten to see the play or are you planning to try to get tickets in the next year?

While you’re shopping for tickets, don’t forget your tickets to MuggleNet Live! 2017: Nineteen Years Later – we wouldn’t want the Hogwarts Express to leave without you!
