by Gretchen Roesch · April 11, 2018

Universal Studios Japan will be holding the grand opening of its Universal Spectacle Night Parade – Best of Hollywood on Thursday, May 17. The parade will feature four franchises: Harry Potter, Illumination Entertainment’s Minions, Jurassic World, and making its Park debut in the parade, Transformers.

The parade will feature amazing technology that “recreates the worlds of each of the franchise[s] amidst a continually changing environment where guests are completely immersed in a spectacular 360[-]degree view of the worlds of their favorite films.” Approximately 600 meters of projection mapping will surround the guests during the parade. This is the same technology used at the Hogwarts Castles in Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood.

In the press release, Universal Studios Japan explained what guests can expect from the Harry Potter feature in the parade.

The magic and wonder of Harry Potter comes to life in this spectacular, highly-themed [sic] experience. The show begins as the Hogwarts Express pulls into sight. Watch as an intense Quidditch match unfolds and join Hogwarts students as they practice spells. The journey continues when you suddenly find yourself surrounded by a dark sky filled with Dementors! Enjoy the magic and excitement of the Wizarding World with one amazing experience after another.

The Harry Potter float will be first in the parade, followed by those of Transformers, Jurassic World, and Minions. The entire parade will run about 55 minutes, involve 15 total floats, and include approximately 100 entertainers. Starting April 12, you can purchase a Check-in Pass, which will guarantee you access to the parade’s viewing area.

This sounds like an amazing experience. Will you be going to Universal Studios Japan to check out this incredible technology?
