“Potter” Products and Licenses Win at 2019 International Licensing Awards

Held on June 5, the 2019 International Licensing Awards saw a number of nominations for licensed Potter products, including those from LEGO and Kano. Keep reading to see which magical products took home the prizes on the night.

LEGO, which picked up an award at the UK Toy Industry Awards Toy Fair earlier this year, won in the Toys/Games/Novelties (Aimed at Ages 0–12) category for its Harry Potter range. The top prize was also shared with Jazwares, which won for its Fortnite llama loot piñata.

Warner Bros. Consumer Products took home the prize in the Entertainment/Character Brand – Live Action category, with its Harry Potter brand going up against the likes of Jurrasic World and Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood.

Also recognized for its Potter licensed product was Kano, creators of the innovative Harry Potter Coding Kit. The kit allows fans to learn how to code by re-creating spells and moments from the Potter series.

 

On the tech side, the best app, software or video game product goes to @TeamKano for their Harry Potter Coding Kit. Congrats! #licensingexpo2019 #2019intllicensingawards

French department store Galeries Lafayette also won for its Potter pop-up shop, which opened in Paris during the holiday period. The pop-up was the first of its kind in France and spanned the department store’s five floors. As well as a range of collectibles and products to purchase, fans could interact with immersive spell-casting lessons, photo opportunities, and exclusive animations.

A number of other Potter licenses and products were also nominated for the awards. These included the Harry Potter real talking Sorting Hat from Maxx Marketing and Harry Potter: A Pop-Up Guide to Hogwarts from Insight Editions. Also nominated in the Best Licensed Collaboration category was the partnership between Warner Bros., Swarovski Crystal, and the Carat Shop for their the Harry Potter Swarovski crystal range.
