Meg March and a Dowager Countess: First Look at “Little Women”, Plus New “Downton Abbey” Posters

Excitement is starting to build for Little Women, the newest adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s coming-of-age novel, starring Emma Watson.

As previously reported, fans have caught glimpses of Watson on the set of Little Women, but not much else has been revealed since filming began in October 2018. Now, thanks to an exclusive from Vanity Fair, fans of Louisa May Alcott’s beloved work can take a look at the upcoming film adaptation.

Watson takes on the role of Meg March, the oldest of the March sisters, and will be starring alongside Saoirse Ronan (Jo March), Florence Pugh (Amy March), and Eliza Scanlen (Beth March).

Little Women is set during the American Civil War and follows the March sisters and their mother (played by Laura Dern) as they struggle with poverty, family relationships, and growing up.

Speaking about Watson’s character, the film’s director, Greta Gerwig (Lady Bird), has spoken about Meg’s discontent with her family’s poverty:

Meg, like so many people, just has an irrepressible desire to fit in with the fancy girls [whom] she’s so different from.

Little Women also stars Meryl Streep (Mary Poppins Returns, Big Little Lies) as Aunt March and Timothée Chalamet (Lady Bird, Call Me By Your Name) as Laurie, the Marches’ neighbor. The film is expected to hit movie theaters in the United States on December 25, 2019.

While we wait patiently for the release of Little Women, we have begun to count down the weeks until Downtown Abbey is in our lives once again!

Earlier this week, fans were treated to a reveal of a number of posters for the film of the popular British television series. While we still know little about what will take place during the film, we can’t wait to see Dame Maggie Smith return as the Dowager Countess. Downton Abbey will hit movie theaters on September 20.
