Community Day Is Here in “Wizards Unite”, Quidditch Continues in “Hogwarts Mystery”

by Brienne Green · September 21, 2019

September has certainly been a busy month in the world of wizarding world gaming! From dragons to Quidditch to the Tonic for Trace Detection, we’ve had plenty on which to drain both our energy levels and coin accounts – and now, another Harry Potter: Wizards Unite Community Day is upon us as well! So while you wait for a recharge, read on to get caught up on the latest!

Wizards Unite Update

Let's start with the top news first: It's Community Day in Wizards Unite! Beginning at 11:00 a.m. (Pacific Daylight) and continuing through 2:00 p.m. in the Americas and Greenland, you'll have the opportunity to put a dent in your Mysterious Artefact Registry Family with the help of some excellent bonuses. You can view the full list below, and remember to tag #WizardsUnite on social media to share your tips, tricks, and progress!

  • Mysterious Artefacts, including rare Foundables such as Hermione's Time-Turner, will appear more frequently today.
  • All Exstimulo Potions consumed during the Community Day time frame will have increased effects.
  • All Exstimulo Potion brew times will be reduced by 50%.
  • Performing Master Notes will reduce the brew time of Exstimulo Potions by 50%.
  • Spell Energy will appear on the map.
  • All Inns will reward you with increased Spell Energy.
  • A free store pack will be available in the Diagon Alley Shop.

Meanwhile, a new potion was recently introduced into the game: the Tonic for Trace Detection. (We'd call it TTD for short, but that sort of sounds like a club drug, so we won't.) All you Pokémon trainers out there will recognize its effects, since they're similar to Incense in Pokémon GO: use a Tonic for Trace Detection and watch more Traces appear on your map. These Traces will be unique to the player using the potion. To brew it, you'll need baneberry, Bulbadox juice, angel's-trumpet, and Erumpent Horn (which is primarily found through Portkeys).

Elsewhere in Wizards Unite, did you participate in Day of the Dragons? Those who did reported massive XP yields, Wizards Unite Hub says, with some players logging between 60 and 70 XP per hour on average. Dark Detectors and the Tonic for Trace Detection were also said to have attracted dragons, so keep that in mind as you encounter your regional dragon in the future. The four Hogwarts Founders Foundables were also loosed onto the map and now appear as High-Level Traces in the Hogwarts School Family with yellow beams emanating from their tops.

The wait is over. . . the official game guide to Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is out now! Get all the insider tips and tricks straight from the game team: https://t.co/72ObMRPVaj #WizardsUnite pic.twitter.com/jzIFLmFak8

The Harry Potter: Wizards Unite Official Game Guide has also arrived and is available for puchase now on Amazon in both the United States and the United Kingdom. And if you've also been curious about Horned Serpent Foundables and why they're so ridiculously difficult to find, Wizards Unite Hub has an in-depth theory you'll definitely want to read!

Hogwarts Mystery Update

Okay, let's just get this out of the way right off the (Beater's) bat: How in the name of Merlin did we make it to our sixth year at Hogwarts without having so much as set foot in the Quidditch stadium?! Yes, we know, Cursed Vaults, missing brother, but if we had the time to eat 49,000 sandwiches with everyone and their rat, we had the time to make it to a match or two. We're very disappointed in our House pride. But since there's nothing we can do about that now, we might as well make the team!

If you're keeping up with your first Quidditch-themed side quest, you'll have met the driven and academically irresponsible Skye Parkin, who's committed herself to training you up despite your Quidditch cluelessness. You're apparently a phenom, and a good, old-fashioned session of gnome chuckin' has only made you more dangerous - which seems to be right up Skye's alley.

"Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery" characters de-gnome the Quidditch Stadium.

"Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery" character Skye Parkin promises an extreme Quidditch training experience.

Your path to earning a tryout for the House team has also led you to a few other new friends, including loquacious commentator Murphy McNully, team captain Orion Amari, and... Face Paint Kid.

A "Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery" character asks Face Paint Kid if that's really his name. Apparently, it is.

If nothing else, Face Paint Kid has provided you with a few more colorful makeup options for your character, and if you're in Ravenclaw, there's even more upside to that: You can look like Mel Gibson in Braveheart. We're definitely getting caught up in these new original characters. McNully's commitment to Quidditch strategy and untapped potential talent is getting your character closer to a spot on the team, and Orion is... Well, he's odd, but we need him for that tryout, so we'll let it slide for now.

"Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery" character Murphy McNully hopes to get on a last-name basis with you.

"Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery" character Orion Amari delivers a cryptic message.

In Magical Creatures Reserve news, you can now take a hike to the Rocky Mountains and become the proud owner of your very own griffin! This is obviously a must-have for Gryffindors, but regardless, who didn't go around asking their parents for griffins instead of ponies as children? Or was that just us?

As per usual, all of this plus the curse of the Full Marks Events - which strike with all the regularity of lycanthropy and are only marginally more fun - have no doubt been keeping you away from the meat of the story. We'll steer clear of spoilers, but aside from gathering offerings for a familiar face in the Centaur Camp, you've no doubt had time to celebrate meeting the dastardly duo themselves, Fred and George Weasley. We'll therefore close out this update by taking a moment to ponder how many times the following words will be spoken over the course of the next seven years...

Charlie Weasley asks his brothers, Fred and George, what they've done in "Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery".

Fred and George Weasley confess they have detention in "Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery", and absolutely no one is surprised.

What are you enjoying about Wizards Unite and Hogwarts Mystery? What changes would you like to see in the games? Let us know in the comments, and check back again soon for another gaming update!
