USQ Presents New Snitch Projects
In 2020, US Quidditch (USQ) made a few changes to snitch runners and the snitch runner system, and that includes a new announcement for more snitch projects.
A new tier system was announced in August, and new details and benefits were added on December 17. The snitch system has five tiers. The last one, Tier 5, is only for snitches who have passed the test and have memberships but haven’t submitted a film for tier placement yet. Snitch runners in Tier 3 and Tier 4 can be scheduled to play in USQ-hosted events. For USQ-hosted bracket play and quarter-final games, snitch runners in Tier 2 will be prioritized. For semi-finals and finals games, snitch runners in Tier 1 will be prioritized.
The USQ Snitch Team has made some adjustments too. After the changes in the volunteering system, the Snitch Team has a new leader, Jarrod Bailey. He’s currently working on new Snitch Tips and Tricks videos together with another Snitch Coordinator, Chris Champitto. The videos, which will be available in the spring, are aimed at new and experienced players alike to help them improve as snitch runners and increase their tier scores.
Snitch Coordinators Christian Barnes, Louis Consoli, and Matthew Cooper have worked on a new snitch selection system. This system will help scheduled tournaments by assigning snitch runners to matches. These guidelines will be available for USQ-certified tournament directors. Barnes, Consoli, and Champitto also worked on new programs for Snitch of the Month and Snitch of the Year.
Currently, the Snitch Team is trying to get feedback from the Muggle quidditch community in a survey. The team is looking for ideas for other possible initiatives and improvements. There is even the possibility to film or act in its new Snitch Tips and Tricks video project. The survey can be filled out until January 31.
