The city of Oxford, and more specifically the prestigious University, is known for having produced some of the world’s foremost thinkers. Of this number are five novelists often known as “The Oxford School” and heralded as “some of the foremost exponents of the [fantasy] genre.” The works of these five – C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tokien, Susan Cooper, Alan Gardner and Phillip Pullman – have formed the basis for a small but fascinating exhibition currently housed within the notorious Bodleian Library, showcasing a treasure trove of unique items that would excite any reader of fantasy fiction and surely any Potter fan.

Hosted in time for the Half Term holidays, the Warner Bros. Studio Tour: The Making of Harry Potter recently ran a week-long event, offering visitors the chance to meet the animal stars of the Potter films. For those on Twitter this Sunday, you will have noticed that MuggleNet was, once again, on hand to report on the events of Animal Week. From watching kitten training to being snuck into the Gryffindor Common Room to meet Mrs Norris, the whole event was a blast and as magical as our first trip there.

Arriving second in Jamie Lloyd’s highly anticipated Trafalgar Transformed season at the Trafalgar Studios, The Hothouse doesn’t relax the intensity set by its predecessor, the apocalyptic Macbeth starring James McAvoy. Shocking and at times offensive, The Hothouse depicts the sinister workings inside an undefined mental institution. Yet despite the outrageously immoral practices and some utterly unforgiving characters, this revival of one of Pinter’s early plays is unrelenting in its comic intentions.
Rupert Grint brought the party to Stroud when he attended his sister’s gig this weekend. Performing with her band, The Ghost of Samantha, Samantha Grint was part of the line-up for Kick Start the Summer, a fundraising event in aid of local youth project The Door.
