All of us Potter fans were well aware of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them long before J.K. Rowling and Warner Brothers announced the new film franchise, but Thursday’s announcement has caused a huge spike in the rest of the world catching up! Google Trends has shown a massive change in the amount of users searching for the phrase “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” over the past few days.

Casting Newt Scamander

With breaking fandom news, comes excitable speculation with the most of common of these discussions usually concerning casting – the Fantastic Beasts announcement was certainly no different. The news that the film would focus on the adventures of a young Newt Scamander put the casting hypothesising into over drive. MuggleNet is more than partial to a bit of debate, so we have decided to get in on the casting action.

“Look and feel” of the “Fantastic Beasts” film revealed

When asked about the possibilities of using the original Potter film sets at Leavesdon Studios for the future films, Tsujihara simply stated that “the look and feel will be very similar” as of the original Potter movies. However according to Rowling herself the story is “neither a prequel nor a sequel to the Harry Potter series but an extension of the wizarding world.” And with the beginning of the film set in New York 70 years before Harry even knows about Hogwarts, there certainly will be some differences.

Earlier today, J.K. Rowling made our hearts really, really happy with the announcement that Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them will be adapted into a new film. Immediately, we can start speculating on what might show up in the film, and in due time, we will hit just about everything we can think of.
