It’s been approximately 24 hours since the release of Jim Kay’s illustrated edition of “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone”. If you’re anything like us, you’ve spent the best part of the past day devouring every inch of the book and will already have you favorite moments, sketches, and characters.

If we were excited on Friday when we saw Jim Kay’s Professor McGonagall and the Great Hall for the first time, by now we’re practically OVERCOME with anticipation of the illustrated edition’s release this Tuesday. Although it seems almost impossible to wait another minute, we can try to fend off desperation by reading several new interviews with artist Jim Kay – AND finally seeing how he has rendered Severus Snape and Albus Dumbledore.

Now that it’s September, it’s not long until the highly anticipated illustrated edition of “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s/Sorcerer’s Stone” is released across the world. Bloomsbury is releasing the book, which is illustrated by Jim Kay, in the UK, and Scholastic in the US.
As all “Harry Potter” fans know, there are many people who helped to make our beloved book series a reality. Not just J.K. Rowling herself, or the talented artists who illustrated those original covers, but also editors, publicists, agents, sales reps, and so many others who believed in Harry just as much as we did. We have recently lost one of those remarkable people – Susan Jeffers Casel, who was a copy editor for the US editions of the books.
Just in time for “Fantastic Beasts” fever to really get off the ground, Scholastic is releasing new US editions of “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” and “Quidditch Through the Ages” on June 30! Originally published in 2001, the American editions of these Hogwarts textbooks have remained largely unchanged until now.

It’s high time I paid homage to the mighty MuggleNet. Where to start? I love the design, (I currently favour the ‘Dementor’ layout), the polls (I actually voted in the ‘Who’s the Half-Blood Prince?’ one), the pretty-much-exhaustive information on all books and films, the wonderful editorials (more insight there than in several companion volumes I shall not name), 101 Ways to Annoy Lord Voldemort (made me laugh aloud), the Wall of Shame (nearly as funny as some of the stuff I get)… pretty much everything. Webmaster Emerson, Eric, Jamie, Damon, Ben, Matthew, Rachel, Jaymz and Sharon, I salute you.
