While this may not be our “normal” MuggleNet Throwback, we felt it would be unique to take a look at what occurred in the world of Harry Potter on this day many years ago. So today we focus on August 22, 1994 and the 422nd Quidditch World Cup.

For the past month MuggleNet has been asking you, our faithful visitors, to help celebrate the birthdays of Neville Longbottom, Harry Potter, and J.K. Rowling herself by decorating a birthday cake in their honor. We received 47 entries, and wow, they were amazing; cakes from all over the world, by fans of all age groups, immortalizing the Potter characters & creator that we adore!
As we reported previously, the graphic artist team of the Harry Potter films, Miraphora Mina and Eduardo Lima (MinaLima company), are releasing a series of collectible prints for fans to purchase, showcasing their unique graphic designs from the Harry Potter movies.
As it is now July 31 in the United Kingdom, it is only proper that we express our gratitude to the brilliant author, Jo Rowling, and the literary masterpiece’s title character, Harry Potter.
The end of July brings many things; Daniel Radcliffe turns 23, Harry and Neville celebrate their 32nd birthdays, J.K. Rowling her 47th, and sadly, the end of our Wizarding World heroes cake decorating contest! Brought to you in part by Dinah Bucholz, author of the “The Unofficial Harry Potter Cookbook”, this contest promises to be our “sweetest” yet!
