Magic is awesome. But did you ever get the vibe that much of the wizarding world is still stuck in the technological dark ages? Here are seven Muggle technological inventions that I think win out over their magical counterparts.
I wake up, disoriented, as a horrible screeching rings through my head. Stumbling out of bed, I go through the methodical routine of grabbing my phone, keys, and a jacket before filing out of the building for the third fire drill of the semester. As I pass under the alarm in the hallway, and it shakes my whole body, I wish I could just point at it and yell, “’Silencio’!”
This time, we’re turning our attention to Griphook, the scheming Gringotts goblin whom Harry rescues and then turns to in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” for help in finding another Horcrux.

There was certainly no shortage of Pottermania at this year’s LeakyCon, which took place from July 30 to August 3 at the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) in Orlando, Florida. This last week, MuggleNet was down in Orlando, Florida, at Universal Orlando Resort for a VIP/media preview of the all-new Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley expansion. No doubt you’ve seen the trailers, the photos, the interviews, and the endless pictures of people standing on benches trying to get a glimpse – and all of that stuff is great. But what you can’t see is the absolute best part of the park – the inherent magic.
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s a… DRAGON?! That’s right, the Gringotts dragon has now been installed into the Diagon Alley expansion of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando!
