From Hogwarts to a Galaxy Far, Far Away: Jack Thorne to Pen “Star Wars” Script!

It’s been a big few years for writer Jack Thorne: Not only has he co-written Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, the upcoming film Wonder, and several BBC dramas (including an upcoming adaptation of His Dark Materials by Phillip Pullman), but he’s now also rocketing off into the Star Wars universe!

The upcoming Star Wars: Episode IX has been drafted by director Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly, but it was decided that a “fresh set of eyes was needed.” Thorne has been chosen to do that job!

It’s unclear if a whole new draft will be written or if Thorne will simply be involved in rewrites. The film is expected to start production in January 2018, about a month after the upcoming Episode VIII: The Last Jedi is released in theaters.

We can’t wait to see what kind of magical words Thorne brings to the Skywalker saga! The film is scheduled for release on May 24, 2019.
