Inside “Newsweek Special Edition – The Wizarding World of Harry Potter”

Over the years, MuggleNet has had the opportunity to participate in some very fun, nerdy, and creative campaigns and projects, from obvious things such as movie premieres, “fantastic” set visits, and conventions, to HPA’s Helping Haiti Heal or Not in Harry’s Name. We are certainly blessed to do what we do and try very hard not to take any opportunity for granted. So when Newsweek reached out to us to take part in its special Harry Potter edition, we flipped. We have never been so honored, and our inclusion in Newsweek Special Edition: “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter” is certainly at the top of our “did this really happen?” list (right after our interview with J.K. Rowling, duh).

Newsweek Special Edition presents [‘]Inside the Wizarding World of Harry Potter,[‘] your inside guide to a fantastic, magical universe beloved by the entire world. This 100-page, special edition gathers together the greatest Harry Potter experts and fans in the world to reveal every delightful detail in the Harry Potter universe, from the hidden history of the [w]izarding [s]chools to a breakdown of every spell taught at Hogwarts. Also featured are interviews with the actors and creators of the film franchise and a special sneak peek at the highly anticipated Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

We don’t want to spoil anything for you, but what we can tell you is that MuggleNet contributed two pieces to the magazine, entitled “Generation Potter” and “Boundless Enthusiasm.” The remainder of the issue is overflowing, including interviews with Harry Potter cast and crew, a sneak peak at Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (FIVE MOVIES! We still can’t believe it…); an insider look at Muggle Quidditch; a comprehensive guide to spells, characters, and wizarding schools around the world; and to top it off, a forward by fandom favorite and our friend Chris Rankin (Percy Weasley). Basically, it is as if they took giant parts of Hermione’s brain and published them into a glorious 100-page magazine – complete with full-page photographs. What more could a happy Potterhead ask for?

We had an absolute blast working with Newsweek on the magazine, and we hope that you enjoy reading the special edition as much as we enjoyed working on it. Check out the absolutely stunning cover below, featuring everyone’s favorite (?) Gryffindor, Mr. Harry Potter himself.

I am a 40-something Ravenclaw/Slytherin from Massachusetts. I've been lucky in life and can attribute a lot of that to Harry Potter. Without it, I wouldn't have at least 80% of the things I do today, including my career & closest friends. I truly despise Sirius Black.
