Alfonso Cuarón Launches Campaign for Mexico Earthquake Relief
In response to the massive earthquake that struck Mexico on September 19, director Alfonso Cuarón recently launched a multi-platform campaign called Mexico Rises to provide communities in Mexico with urgent relief and support.
Although he is highly regarded for directing spectacular films, including Gravity and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Cuarón is clear about his wish to help others in their times of need.
The devastating earthquakes in Mexico have elicited a deeply moving response from the Mexican people.
In the history of our community, we have never been so informed, united, and connected as we are right now. Citizens have taken this matter into their own hands and have selflessly and tirelessly worked together to come to the aid of their neighbors.
Following their inspiring lead, I’m compelled to take action and join them to help begin the reconstruction of our beautiful country as it starts to recover from these tragic events.
With adequate backing from his production company, Esperanto Filmoj, Cuarón’s campaign not only filmed a video written by Janet Champ but also features music by Steven Price. And with Participant Media and Anonymous Content providing support to the project through GlobalGiving, it is heartwarming to see so much care and compassion.
