Social Media Roundup: Adventures in the Big Apple

by Lucy O'Shea · October 7, 2018

It’s time for another Social Media Roundup, and there sure is a lot to catch up on! Over the past two weeks, our favorite wizarding world alumni have been reuniting with castmates, promoting new projects, attending events, and more. Keep reading to find out what everyone has been up to!

Quite a few wizarding world stars have started the month of October in the city that never sleeps for New York Comic Con. Luckily for Tom Felton (and Drarry fans), his appearance at the convention meant that he was also able to see Daniel Radcliffe’s new play, The Lifespan of a Fact, on Broadway.

Dan Fogler (Jacob Kowalski) has also been in New York City this week. As well as appearing at his booth at Comic Con all weekend, Dan attended the premiere of the new Netflix show The Good Cop.

And last of the updates from the Big Apple, the cast of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has been having fun in the city over the past two weeks, attending the Lumos Gala Dinner and having a blast at their first-ever Comic Con panel!

After watching this clip of Jamie Parker singing at the Lumos event, we’ve decided that we definitely need a full-length album of Harry Potter singing piano lounge songs.

A magical performance from the one and only Jamie Parker, accompanied by award-winning composer and arranger Jeanine Tesori, at our Gala Dinner last week. Thank you to Jeanine, Jamie and all the team at @hpplayus for their continued support for our work and for vulnerable children and families everywhere. #wearelumos

And although we’re glad that Anthony Boyle (Scorpius Malfoy) and the rest of the cast members enjoyed their time at New York Comic Con, if there was ever a tweet that needed more context, this is it.

Hope the man I helped dress as a ghost buster outside @NY_Comic_Con had a lovely time yesterday. I know I did. pic.twitter.com/Lgk3ewDFHZ

There has also been a number of alumni project announcements and updates since our last roundup. Bonnie Wright has released a new video, which she directed for the new single of singer and actress Sophie Lowe.

Emma Watson posted a photo of herself and Reni Eddo-Lodge, whom she interviewed as part of her online book club, Our Shared Shelf. The interview will be out soon, so make sure to keep an eye out!

🌸 Words cannot express how excited I was to interview @renieddolodge 💞 a London based feminist activist, podcaster, award-winning journalist and author of ‘Why I’m No Longer Talking to White People About Race,’ the Jan/Feb @oursharedshelf book pick. ••• 🌱🌷 Reni’s research and candour opened my eyes to how deeply-engrained structural racism is in UK society. Her work enlightened and motivated me to begin a journey of acknowledging the history of racism in Britain. Thank you, Reni, for thoughtfully answering the questions from #OurSharedShelf members and myself. ••• 🎥🎞 Full interview out 🔜! #blackhistorymonth

And in what is probably the biggest project news of them all, Jamie Campbell Bower returned as young Grindelwald in the Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald trailer!

Finally, everyone at MuggleNet would like to send wishes for a speedy recovery to Ellie Darcey-Alden (young Lily Potter), who underwent surgery recently.

1.5 years ago my surgeon told me I had 40% chance of finding another mass in my breast… well turns out she was right, but this time I found it in the other one 😒growth #2 came out yesterday. With a little TLC and rest, I’m hoping for a speedy recovery ❤️ pic.twitter.com/F7Yiw98Bla
