“Now You See Me 3” Rumored to Star Daniel Radcliffe

by Dora Bodrogi · July 20, 2020

After wrapping on the Harry Potter films, Daniel Radcliffe became famous for his wildly varied choice of roles, which have taken his career down interesting paths, to say the least. He has voiced his concerns about being typecast in interviews, so his return to on-screen magic in 2016’s Now You See Me 2 was a pleasant surprise. Now, his fans may expect him to reprise his role in the franchise because Now You See Me 3 is in the works, and it is rumored to star not only new A-listers but also the bulk of its already familiar cast.

Daniel appeared in the second installment of what is now to be a trilogy of films as Walter Mabry, a young technology tycoon who faked his death to go off-grid. Every story needs a good villain, right? And every villain needs a hell of an introduction. Mabry’s big entrance didn’t really go off without a hitch; he may be an expert at disappearing acts but not so much at card tricks. Check out a clip of Daniel as Mabry in Now You See Me 2.

As in the previous feature films, the organization known as “the Eye” will continue to be a major part of the story in the making but from a new writer’s pen: American Hustle‘s Oscar-nominated screenwriter Eric Warren Singer has been entrusted with the task. President of the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Nathan Kahane said the following about him and his promising take on illusion and magic on film:

Eric has always been fascinated with the fine art of deception and illusion in all of its forms, and he came to us with a great story that takes the mythology of Now You See Me and pushes [t]he Four Horsemen to a whole new level with our key returning cast and new characters. The Now You See Me franchise has been built on keeping the audience surprised and guessing. [As any] great magician knows, you can’t keep doing the same tricks. And Eric and his team of illusionists have something special up their sleeve for this new film.

Lizzy Caplan (Cloverfield, Mean Girls) has been confirmed to return as Lula May, and Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock, Doctor Strange) has been announced as a new addition to the cast. Aside from Daniel, the new movie’s other returning actors may include Michael Caine (Arthur Tressler), Morgan Freeman (Thaddeus Bradley), Dave Franco (Jack Wilder), Mark Ruffalo (Dylan Rhodes Shrike), Woody Harrelson (Merritt McKinney/Chase McKinney), and Jesse Eisenberg (J. Daniel Atlas).

There is no release date yet, due to uncertainty in the entertainment industry as a whole this year, but the announcement came from the CEO of Lionsgate himself, Jon Feltheimer. So watch this space because the villains, which include Daniel, are highly likely to return, and we cannot wait to see how the production team tops the movie magic of the previous two films.
