David Heyman Reveals “Fantastic Beasts” 4 Script Not Started Yet

We’re all eagerly awaiting the release of Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, and there have already been whispers about the fourth film. We have millions of questions, of course. Which location(s) will we be visiting in the fourth installment? Will we be meeting new characters? What will the title be this time around?

We don’t have any answers to the above questions yet, but a fan event Warner Bros. Japan organized in Tokyo to promote Secrets of Dumbledore did end up providing us with one, albeit minuscule, detail.

No new footage of the upcoming film was shown at the fan event, but David Heyman, who produced the Harry Potter films as well as the Fantastic Beasts series, made an “appearance” at the festival in the form of a prerecorded video.

He mostly talked about the release of the third film and answered a few questions fans submitted via Twitter. One fan asked if Newt might be visiting Japan next. Heyman answered and in the process, revealed something else: They haven’t started writing the fourth film yet.

Well, we haven’t yet started writing the next film. So we have to see. If I have my way, we’ll definitely be going to Japan.

We have to admit, we’re a little shocked that they haven’t started writing the script for the fourth film. It could be that they don’t yet know if they’ll stop at four films instead of five, or maybe they want to see what fans like about the third so they can try to incorporate more of that into the next installment. Honestly, we just want to see more of Hogwarts, because why not?

If the next film does end up continuing Newt Scamander’s adventures in Japan, we would be thrilled. There’s a lot of mythology to work with, as well as the possibility of having new beasts added to Newt’s already diverse inventory.

You can watch Heyman talk about the films and answer some more questions below.

Growing up, I was a massive fan of Harry Potter and my love for the stories grew as I got older. It’s no surprise then that I love writing about all things Potter related. When I’m not writing about all the magic, you’ll find me reading (probably something Harry Potter related), listening to music, or writing some songs.
