Collect the Niffler and Unlock the Qilin: “Harry Potter: Puzzles & Spells” Celebrates “Secrets of Dumbledore”

Last week, it was announced that the match-three game Harry Potter: Puzzles & Spells was introducing “a special in-game series of events in conjunction with the launch of Warner Bros. Pictures’ new film, ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore.'”

 

 

The limited-time Fantastic Beasts celebration ended on April 20 and featured Newt Scamander for the first time, who acted as a guide and host for players as they made their way through puzzle game boards, collecting special in-game rewards on the way.

As a special event bonus, the Niffler has also been introduced. Players could collect the Niffler by earning badges, and “for the first time, players can keep the Niffler as a permanent creature they can use in gameplay going forward.”

The magic doesn’t end there – a special Magical Creatures Season is taking place as part of the Fantastic Beasts celebration from late April to late May.

This in-game event enables players for the first time to unlock the [q]ilin, perhaps the wizarding world’s most revered magical beast, to help complete [p]uzzles when activated.

Featuring soundtracks and voice-over recordings from the original Harry Potter films, Harry Potter: Puzzles & Spells gives Harry Potter fans the chance to relive Harry’s journey through the wizarding world. Players make their way through the game boards, facing “hopping Chocolate Frogs, fluttering [w]inged [k]eys, battling wizard chess pieces and other unexpected obstacles and objects” on the way.

Players can also form or join clubs, giving them the chance to socialize with fellow Potter fans, collaborate on strategies, share lives, and compete for prizes.
