Daniel Radcliffe on Becoming a Dad and the “Harry Potter” TV Reboot

Daniel Radcliffe and his long-term partner, Erin Darke, became parents earlier this year after keeping the pregnancy under wraps, with the birth of their child being confirmed by Radcliffe’s representative back in April.

Daniel has now publicly spoken about the newest addition to their family. Describing becoming a father as “crazy and intense,” Radcliffe confirmed in an exclusive interview with ET that he’s had a little boy.

He’s wonderful, and Erin is amazing. It’s a real privilege to have this time with him. I was always gonna take some time off, which not everyone is able to do, so I’m able to be here with him a lot, which is lovely. We’re having a great time.

On the subject of going back to work, fans will be pleased to hear that Daniel is planning on sticking around.

I think I’m gonna miss him when I go back to work later in the year…. I think I’ll probably work a little bit less for the next few years, but I will never be stopping. I don’t think that’s good for me either.

The topic of the new Harry Potter reboot that was announced alongside the Max streaming service was also brought up. Describing the set of the Harry Potter films as “such a safe place to grow up because the whole thing really felt like a big family,” Radcliffe expressed hope that the continuity he experienced can be replicated for the young actors who will be taking on the iconic roles in the TV show.

When asked whether he would be open to doing a cameo in the show, Daniel expressed doubt that he would get asked.

It seems to me that they are wanting to make a very fresh series. It feels like it would be distracting to have old, haggard Harry also entering from stage left, so I’m certainly not seeking it out. But I’m very supportive of [the show] happening and wish particularly the kids nothing but the best.

We’re wishing Daniel and Erin a huge congratulations on the birth of their son! We’re also intrigued about the possibility of current Potter stars making it into the Harry Potter reboot – who would you love to see make a cameo in the upcoming television show?
