Fantastic Worlds Coming to Universal Orlando?

by Megan Fischer · July 24, 2018

The Universal parks in Southern California, Orlando, and Japan are constantly expanding and adding new things. Construction is already underway for Universal Studios Japan’s Super Nintendo World, and Universal Studios Hollywood is not far behind. In Orlando, however, there are some rumors floating around that point to the potential of having a Fantastic Beasts themed area with a new patch of land that is speculated to have been purchased by Universal.

Orlando Weekly has reported that NBCUniversal has trademarked the name Fantastic Worlds for use with amusement parks. Maybe we are jumping the gun here, but that sure sounds like it has the potential for some magical beasts. After all, the final Beasts film is tentatively scheduled to come out in 2024, which is one year after this potential new park in Orlando should be opening. The purchase of this new land by Universal has yet to be officially confirmed, but that won’t stop us from taking this information and letting our imaginations run wild!

What sort of attractions could we expect to see at a Fantastic Beasts park? Maybe we could step into MACUSA’s headquarters for a ride called Grindelwald’s Escape (potentially similar to Diagon Alley’s Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts ride). We don’t know much about Grindelwald’s escape from MACUSA in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, but we believe, at the very least, that it involves a high-energy Thestral carriage ride!

Another potential ride could be a look inside Newt’s case. This could be a ride similar to It’s a Small World at Disney World, where park-goers can take a leisurely ride through the amazing environment that is Newt’s suitcase and see creatures such as the Occamy, Demiguise, Niffler, Thunderbird, and more! This would have the possibility to be a great family-friendly ride.

For the thrill-seekers, a dark roller-coaster called the Flight of the Obscurus could take guests on a twisty-turny, upside-down ride that could put you in the shoes of Credence Barebone as he tears through New York City.

With four more movies, including Crimes of Grindelwald, coming out in the next six years, there is also potential for other rides centering around events we haven’t even seen yet! The only thing we can do between now and then is wait for official confirmation from Universal, no matter how hard that wait may be.

Do you want to see a Fantastic Beasts park open up in Orlando? What sort of rides would you like to see? Let us know in the comments below!

“I’m three years older than you were when you fought You-Know– Who over the Sorcerer’s Stone and it’s because of me Malfoy’s stuck back in Umbridge’s office with giant flying bogeys attacking him!”
