Castium Revelio: A Great Time for a “Cornucopia”

by Mary Wojcicki · November 18, 2018

Welcome back to another edition of MuggleNet’s Casting News, your source for the latest information on what our magical alumni have been up to. It’s a short update this week, but that doesn’t make it any less exciting! Castium Revelio!

Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) appears in the new film Ophelia. The film is based on the character from Shakespeare’s Hamlet, and you can watch the trailer for it below. Know that the content may not be appropriate for all viewers.

Harry Potter
Bill Nighy (Rufus Scrimgeour) can be seen in the upcoming Pokémon film Detective Pikachu, which now has its first trailer! The Hollywood Reporter discussed the film's plot.

The film voice stars [Ryan] Reynolds in the title role, with 'Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom''s Justice Smith co-starring as a young man named Tim who has given up on his dreams of becoming a Pokemon trainer. When his father, a detecitve [sic] named Harry Goodman, goes missing, Tim meets Detective Pikachu. Tim has a special connection to Detective Pikachu, being the only person who can understand him, and he and the Pokemon team up to solve the mystery of Tim's missing father.

Nighy's role has not been given, but the film hits theaters on May 10, 2019.

John Williams, who composed the scores for the first three Harry Potter films, has released a new arrangement of "Across the Stars," Padmé and Anakin’s love theme from the Star Wars prequel films, reports Nerdist.

The new arrangement was written for German violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter, who will be putting out an album of new arrangements in 2019.

Check out the rearranged theme below!

Fantastic Beasts
Last week, we reported on Dan Fogler (Jacob Kowalski) and his new role on The Walking Dead. Fogler has spoken with TV Insider about that role (as well as Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald), and you can find that interview here.

Fogler also appeared on Last Call with Carson Daly on November 12. Check out the episode online or on the NBC app!

Colin Farrell (Percival Graves) can be seen in Disney’s live-action adaptation of Dumbo, and a new trailer for that film has also been released.

Circus owner Max Medici (Danny DeVito) enlists former star Holt Farrier (Colin Farrell) and his children Milly (Nico Parker) and Joe (Finley Hobbins) to care for a newborn elephant whose oversized ears make him a laughingstock in an already struggling circus. But when they discover that Dumbo can fly, the circus makes an incredible comeback, attracting persuasive entrepreneur V.A. Vandevere (Michael Keaton), who recruits the peculiar pachyderm for his newest, larger-than-life entertainment venture, Dreamland. Dumbo soars to new heights alongside a charming and spectacular aerial artist, Colette Marchant (Eva Green), until Holt learns that beneath its shiny veneer, Dreamland is full of dark secrets.

Dumbo will be released in the United States on March 29, 2019.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child
Director John Tiffany and singer Björk have teamed up for a new concert production, according to Playbill.

Icelandic music icon Bjök [sic] will premiere a new concert production at The Shed, the arts center set to open near Manhattan’s Hudson Yards and the High Line in spring 2019. Cornucopia will mark the artist’s first production created with theatre collaborators, with Tony-winning 'Harry Potter and the Cursed Child' director John Tiffany at the helm.

The Grammy nominee considers the presentation to be her most elaborate concert to date, referring to the project as one ‘where the acoustic and digital will shake hands.’

The creative team includes choreographer Margrét Bjarnadóttir, set designer Chloe Lamord, digital visual designer Tobias Gremmler, lighting designer Bruno Poet, costume designer Iris Van Herpen, and sound designer Gareth Fry.

Gareth Fry is also the Olivier-winning sound designer for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and tweeted about the news.

Am super excited to be sound designing @Bjork ‘s Cornucopia @TheShedNY next year. https://t.co/LX4j7ExBwW
