The original cover artwork for the UK editions of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, both by artist Cliff Wright, are up for auction at the Nate D. Sanders auction house. These iconic covers have become a permanent staple on the shelves of millions of readers, and now one lucky collector will have the chance to own them!
Two original front-cover illustrations from the Bloomsbury editions of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban will go to auction from Nate D. Sanders on March 28. The works were created by artist Cliff Wright using watercolor and ink for the 1998 and 1999 releases of the books.
Harry Potter fans gathered Wednesday evening to meet illustrator Kazu Kibuishi at the Grove Barnes & Noble in Los Angeles – and they were treated to a very special peek at an alternate version of the artist’s cover for Chamber of Secrets!

In February, it was revealed that Scholastic would be re-releasing each of the Potter books with completely newly designed covers, in order to mark the series’ 15th anniversary. Today, artist Kazu Kibuishi has revealed the second book cover while on-site at Book Expo America.
Today we celebrate yet another milestone in the Harry Potter fan community. The events of Harry’s second year at Hogwarts took place 20 years ago today. Over on Twitter we relived a bit of that magic by sharing events as they unfolded in the Chamber of Secrets ranging from Professor McGonagall’s declaration of all students to return to the house dormitories, to Hagrid returning from his stint in Azkaban.
