Draco and Scorpius Malfoy “Cursed Child” Portraits Revealed!

Over the last couple of days, photographs of both the Potter and Weasley-Granger families from the upcoming play, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, have been released. Well, today, is the final day of Pottermore’s cast reveals, and it’s the Malfoy family’s turn.

Draco Malfoy will be played by Alex Price, and Scorpius Malfoy, Draco’s son, will be played by Anthony Boyle. Take a look at the actors in character below.

Like the other young cast members, Scorpius is in Hogwarts school uniform.

Pottermore also shared some thoughts from the actors and J.K. Rowling. Rowling commented that

I love Draco and Scorpius – they actually look related.

Rowling added,

I’ve got a feeling Scorpius is going to do nothing to turn girls off the Malfoy men.

For Boyle, however, there were other challenges on taking on the role – such as going blond.

It was such a game changer. As soon as I saw it, it was like, ‘Okay, I’m playing Scorpius Malfoy – this is real now.’ That was such a big moment.

Price, who plays Draco, spoke about how he got into the role.

Jack Thorne’s script. Start right there. And there’s obviously a massive history of books to draw on. You could tie yourself in knots worrying about it. But our first job is to serve this play and J.K. Rowling’s characters as best we can.

A bonus behind the scenes video was also shared. Check it out below!

With only five days to go until the first public preview, things are certainly getting exciting! What do you think of the Malfoy family? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!

    Where the heck is Astoria.

Either she is only mentioned or she has a very small role. The pictures seem to be of the main characters in the play. That’s why the other Potter and Weasley children aren’t included either. But they’re bound to be in it.

Is it just me or does Scorpius look like he’s 26? Far from looking like an 11 year old, he has the weary, shell-shocked look of a grad student who was just told they absolutely must settle on a dissertation topic.

I suspect they’ve gone down the Dawson Casting route because of the sheer length of the play. Either they reckoned younger actors wouldn’t have the stamina for the proceedings, or there may have been restrictions on the length of time child actors can legally perform in one day.

Looks more like Lucius and Draco. Draco would never channel his dad’s look so closely. Scorpius looks too old and scared.

If that’s what they are going for then ok, but not what I would expect.
