Breaking Records and Taking Names: “Beauty and the Beast” Trailer Shatters Record!

It looks like the world is more than ready to see Emma Watson’s portrayal of Belle in Beauty and the Beast on the big screen!

Variety reported this week that the first trailer for the film obliterated previous records for the most views in 24 hours, with the total amount of views coming in at 127.6 million (not including China)!

This means it beat out films such as Fifty Shades Darker, which previously held the record with 114 million views, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens with 112 million views.

Facebook tallied up 29 million views, led by an astonishing 27 million views on Emma Watson’s page alone.

The trailer currently is one of the top trending videos on Youtube, and #BeautyandtheBeast was the leading trend worldwide on Twitter.

The teaser trailer, which was released in May of this year, also broke records at 91.8 million views, compared to Star Wars: The Force Awakens‘s record of 88 million views.

What did you think of the trailer?

Ok, enough is enough. Why is Mugglenet even reporting on this? I understand that Emma Watson and Emma Thompson both starred in the Harry Potter films, but why does a Harry Potter fansite need to follow the careers of the actors from the films? This a fansite that brings us news about the wizarding world, and the glory of Harry Potter. Yes, Emma Watson was wonderful as Hermione, but why do we need to continue following her career? She is an actress who played a role and has moved on; we need to as well. Articles like this one, and the “Role Call” articles, are just obnoxious fluff that brings down the site. Please stop. There are plenty of other things to report on regarding FBAWTFT, and any other Harry Potter news. FBAWTFT is a new film series, and I’m sure Eddie Redmayne is wonderful in it, but does this mean we need to start reporting on his career now too? You guys used to be awesome, and at times you still are. Just stop publishing this unrelated nonsense.
