Social Media Roundup: Love and Be Loved

Welcome back to another edition of MuggleNet’s Social Media Roundup! Get ready to catch up with some of your favorite Wizarding World stars as they get back in front of the camera, make some exciting announcements, and of course, share the love for Valentine’s Day.

But first, let’s celebrate some birthdays! February brings with it an excuse to eat lots of cake for Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley) and Afshan Azad (Padma Patil), who celebrated their birthdays on February 17 and February 12, respectively.

Bonnie marked the day by enjoying some delicious-looking ice cream.

Afshan didn’t let a broken ankle or a current coronavirus lockdown stop her from celebrating her special day.

Tom Felton presented the British Independent Film Awards on February 18 and shared a quick behind-the-scenes photo with his Twitter followers. Was Tom distracted by his loveable pup, Willow? A new #DracoTok video? Did someone threaten to tell his father about this? We’ll never know.

Also getting back in front of the camera was Katie Leung, who has recently been cast in the Scottish detective drama Annika. While filming out on Loch Lomond, Katie took some videos of the incredible scenery to share with her followers.

Warwick Davis (Griphook/Filius Flitwick) is returning to the small screen with a new series of his TV game show, Tenable.

Other stars of the Wizarding World have been working on projects away from the world of TV and film. Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood) took to Instagram to announce her new book

Of course, February also means it’s time to celebrate Gilderoy Lockhart’s favorite holiday, Valentine’s Day! Some Wizarding World stars took to their social media accounts on the day and shared the love with their family, friends, and followers.

Afshan Azad (Padma Patil) took to Instagram to wish her husband a happy Valentine’s Day, sharing a photo from a previous trip to Vietnam.

Although he appeared to be having a less-than-ideal Valentine’s Day, Mads Mikkelsen (Gellert Grindelwald) hoped his followers enjoyed the day.

Nothing says “Happy Valentine’s Day” like baked goods (well, except maybe flowers and chocolate). Dawn French, who played the Fat Lady in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, shared a tasty treat with her followers.

Finally, Stan Yanevski (Viktor Krum) knew the way to his followers’ hearts. He posted a photo of Hermione and Viktor at Bill and Fleur’s wedding from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 with a caption that reminded us all to “love and be loved.”

And that’s a wrap on this edition of MuggleNet’s Social Media Roundup! Make sure to check back in two weeks’ time to see what the stars of the Wizarding World have been up to.

Lucy O'Shea

I was given a copy of Philosopher's Stone in 2001, and instantly, I was hooked. Since then, my passion for Potter has been equaled only by my passion for fair access to education (and watching motorsport). A spell I wish could exist in the Muggle world is the summoning charm because this Hufflepuff is not a "particularly good finder"!
