UPDATED: Mirror, Mirror: MinaLima Teases Upcoming Illustrated Classic “Snow White”

by Adam Poncharoensub · April 10, 2022

Although MinaLima is primarily beloved and recognized for its graphics featured in the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts film series, the award-winning design studio is also renowned for its beautiful interpretations of some of our favorite children’s books. In cooperation with Harper Design, MinaLima began work on its illustrated classics collection, in which design team Miraphora Mina and Eduardo Lima put their unique and whimsical spin on some of history’s greatest fairy tales, in 2015. Well, it looks like we’re getting another one to add to our bookshelves. Last week, MinaLima teased Snow White and Other Grimms’ Fairy Tales with a look at the Evil Queen.

With only the briefest glimpse of the Evil Queen in the magic mirror, we can tell that it will be yet another gorgeous book for us to proudly display. The spires and turrets that make up the castle-like outer edge of the mirror are simply breathtaking. As is the case with any MinaLima work, its interpretation of a well-known fairy-tale staple is interesting but not jarring. If this tease is any indication of the rest of the illustrations, then we know that this will certainly be something worth picking up.

Announced in February, Snow White and Other Grimms’ Fairy Tales will be the ninth book in the MinaLima Illustrated Classics collection. MinaLima’s library of illustrated children’s books includes gorgeous interpretations of beloved fairy tales with an interactive twist, utilizing pop-up elements, maps, dials, and letters. The collection currently includes Peter Pan, The Jungle Book, The Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid and Other Fairy Tales, The Secret Garden, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking-Glass, The Adventures of Pinocchio, and The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
