Rupert Grint Talks New Fatherhood Perspective While Filming “Servant”

Get ready to sit on the edge of your seats. Season 2 of M. Night Shyamalan’s Servant is coming soon, and ComicBook.com interviewed Rupert Grint and costar Nell Tiger Free to promote it.

The intellectual thriller is about Dorothy Turner (Lauren Ambrose) and husband Sean Turner (Toby Kebbell) dealing with the tragic loss of their infant son, Jericho. Dorothy’s way of dealing with this traumatic loss is by caring for a baby doll. The couple hires a nanny, Leanne Grayson (Nell Tiger Free), to care for the doll, and as soon as she arrives, supernatural events start to take place.

Grint plays Julian Pearce, younger brother to the leading lady, Dorothy. Julian and Sean discuss Dorothy’s mental state and try to make sense of the inexplicable events that take place after Leanne moves into the home.

In this interview with ComicBook.com, Grint joked that Servant is probably the worst show to be a part of after becoming a father this year.

It’s very strange. It definitely has kind of changed my perspective on things but also in a helpful way…it was something I never really had much of an idea of; it was that kind of love… It’s a very different love. The grief and what it means to lose a child… it’s unimaginable and kind of hones in on ‘I’d do anything to get my child back.’

When asked if he would ever consider coming back for any new Wizarding World films, Grint was hesitant to shut the door on that part of his life.

I don’t know. I mean, never say never. I would never say, ‘Absolutely no.’ It was a huge part of my life, and I’m very fond of that character and their stories. So yeah, I mean, I’d be up for it at the right time. I don’t know what capacity that would be, but yeah, we’ll see.

Season 2 of Servant is scheduled to premiere on January 15 on Apple TV+ and has been renewed for a third season.
