Diary of a First Year – Part 13

September 28, evening

Dear Diary,

Today, I finally got a letter from Mum and Dad! I’ve been writing them every few days, but I hadn’t heard back from them. I was really getting worried. Mum said that the owls kept delivering the post at night and she had tried to send letters through the Muggle post, but nothing seemed to reach me. Finally, an owl arrived when they were awake and she was able to attach a letter back! She was practically frantic and said we need to get an owl right away so she doesn’t have to wait this long. I’ll need to ask Eloise and Cameron about that because I have no idea how I would get an owl while at school.

She and Dad were so interested in everything about Hogwarts, including what it means to be a Ravenclaw, everything I’m learning in lessons, and Eloise and Cameron. Dad really wanted to hear about Potions, and Mum promised to practice chess with me over the holidays.

I’m so glad to hear from them. I’ve been feeling really homesick lately. I love Hogwarts and learning about the wizarding world, but I’ve never been away from home this long. I’ll have so much to show them and tell them about in a few months! For now, knowing I can hear from them will be enough.
