Discover “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” MinaLima Style

by Helena Everett · August 11, 2021

MinaLima, the award-winning design studio behind the graphics for the Wizarding World franchise and renowned internationally for telling stories through design, has added yet another much-loved children’s classic title to its illustrated classics range: The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum.

In 2015, MinaLima envisioned creating an entire shelf of children’s tales in its distinctive signature style. Wanting each of the editions to be unique, and hoping to bring something new to the reader, the illustrated classics range was born. Whether flying to Neverland with Peter Pan, falling down the rabbit hole with Alice, or discovering the secret garden with Mary, each edition brings the story to life through interactive and pop-up elements.

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, a staple of American literature and hailed as “America’s greatest and best-loved homegrown fairytale” by the Library of Congress, was published in 1900 and was an instant success. It is one of the most-read children’s books and the inspiration for the well-loved 1939 Academy Award-winning movie.

The story follows young Dorothy’s perilous adventures of a lifetime as she travels from the Kansas prairies with her canine companion, Toto, to the Land of Oz. Dorothy finds herself in a strange land full of witches, munchkins, winged monkeys, and more. On her mission, she befriends an unlikely cast of characters and learns the true meaning of friendship.

The magical world of Oz can now be discovered through specially commissioned artwork and exclusive 3D interactive features:

  • A cyclone map revealing the Land of Oz
  • A pop-up yellow brick road in intricate detail
  • Dorothy’s iconic ruby red slippers that can be clicked together
  • Fighting trees with branches that come alive
  • Oz glasses that provide you with a new view of the world

Inside the book, the pages are jam-packed with illustrations: See the cowardly lion clinging on to a tree for dear life, search for a sleeping Dorothy among the poppies, or view the lovable main characters standing on the vibrant yellow brick road surrounded by the Emerald City.
