Now that we’ve got our two leads for “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”, more casting news can’t be far away! This afternoon, “Variety” is reporting that Ezra Miller, best known in the “Potter” fandom for co-starring in “The Perks of Being a Wallflowe”r with Emma Watson, might be eyeing a role in the franchise.
So while my first loyalty may be to “Harry Potter”, I can’t hide the fact that “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” isn’t the only 2016 adaptation I’m looking forward to – I’m *almost* as excited for the book-to-television adaptation of Lev Grossman’s “The Magicians.”
“My Perfect Mind,” co-written and directed by Kathryn Hunter (who portrayed Mrs. Figg in “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix”), is a playful—and at times bewildering but in the best kind of way—examination of an actor’s relationship to the part of King Lear, a role that a stroke prevented him from playing on the stage.
It’s hard to believe that it has been five years since the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios in Orlando first opened! Five years out, millions of “Potter” fans have visited the park, the Diagon Alley expansion has opened, and Hogsmeade parks have opened at several locations around the world.
Just in time for “Fantastic Beasts” fever to really get off the ground, Scholastic is releasing new US editions of “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” and “Quidditch Through the Ages” on June 30! Originally published in 2001, the American editions of these Hogwarts textbooks have remained largely unchanged until now.
Now that we’ve got our Newt Scamander in Eddie Redmayne, it was only a matter of time before more “Fantastic Beasts” casting news was released. We’ve now learned that actress Katherine Waterston will play the role of Tina, short for Porpentina, a woman who meets Newt in New York City and will play a “pivotal role” in his adventures.
A little over a month ago we learned that Robert Galbraith’s third Cormoran Stirke novel will be called “Career of Evil”, and now we’ve got an exact release date, a short teaser of the plot, and the first images of the US and UK covers!
It’s been a few months since we’ve had any news about Emma Watson’s latest film “Regression”, but as the film inches closer to its August 2015 release, we’re learning more and more about the thriller – the first full trailer has been released!
