We’re still completely in love with the costumes from “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” (those coats!), so we always jump at a chance to hear something from Oscar-winning costume designer Colleen Atwood.
“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” has been nominated for two Oscars: Costume Design and Production Design. Recently, the heads of each of these departments on the film revealed some magical inspirations and details that helped them make Newt’s world come to life.
The magic continues! Even though “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” has been out in theaters for a few months, and we’re now waiting (impatiently) for it to be released on DVD, we’re still learning more about the film.
Designing costumes takes not only design talent but also an understanding of the psychology of the character and influence of the surroundings, explains Colleen Atwood at the Swarovski Costume Design Master Class held before the 2017 BAFTA Awards ceremony.
With five BAFTA nominations, J.K. Rowling and other key “Fantastic Beasts” cast and creators will be in attendance for the awards this Sunday.
With mere hours until “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” hits movie theaters worldwide, composer James Newton Howard has spoken about what it was like to score the film and become part of J.K. Rowling’s wizarding world.

It’s high time I paid homage to the mighty MuggleNet. Where to start? I love the design, (I currently favour the ‘Dementor’ layout), the polls (I actually voted in the ‘Who’s the Half-Blood Prince?’ one), the pretty-much-exhaustive information on all books and films, the wonderful editorials (more insight there than in several companion volumes I shall not name), 101 Ways to Annoy Lord Voldemort (made me laugh aloud), the Wall of Shame (nearly as funny as some of the stuff I get)… pretty much everything. Webmaster Emerson, Eric, Jamie, Damon, Ben, Matthew, Rachel, Jaymz and Sharon, I salute you.
