Our FanFiction feature this week is the amazing ‘Halfway to Infinity‘ by Eponine. This story won the Quick Silver Quill award for best Alternate Universe, meaning it takes the Potter books as a basis and makes a significant change to the established events.
Our featured Fan Art submission this week comes in video format – a speed drawing of Emma Watson by Sylvain.
What a great opportunity to see an artist at work! Notice how Sylvain starts by sketching main features of Emma’s face, then every so slowly builds the image with layers of shading, until finally highlighting certain features by outlining with dark lines and erasing other portions to create contrast. I must say as well the music really adds something to the experience of watching this video. Great work Sylvain!
Now that Ascendio 2012 has wrapped up and LeakyCon 2012 is just around the corner, it’s time to begin looking forward to the next Harry Potter Fan Convention, and MISTI-Con is the answer!
After their successful Kickstarter which raised over three times its original goal, the Harry Potter fan convention MISTI-Con is pleased to announce that registration is now open! The event, which takes place May 9-13, 2013 at The Margate Resort in Laconia, New Hampshire, serves to be an intimate experience. The conference will not exceed 500 attendees and the entire space is occupied solely by attendees for the duration.
Hailed as the founders of the wizard rock genre – a DIY music movement boasting nearly 1,000 bands that play songs relating to the “Harry Potter” book series – Harry and the Potters formed in 2002 with brothers Paul and Joe DeGeorge and have since released three full-length albums and played over 600 shows all over the world.

As we recently reported, Harry Potter’s very own Rupert Grint (Ronald Weasley) will be taking part of the symbolic Olympic Torch relay.
SnitchSeeker & the BBC are now reporting that Rupert’s run will take place on Wednesday, July 25th and will start at Middlesex University. The University is in Barnet, a borough of London located approximately 30 minutes outside of downtown London.
Today, a special announcement was disclosed regarding the upcoming supercon LeakyCon 2012, which is taking place in Chicago, IL from August 9th to 12th. One year ago today Team StarKid presented A Very StarKid Event at LeakyCon 2011. To say it was a highlight for a lot of our conference-goers is like saying that Hufflepuffs are just okay at finding things. At this LeakyCon, they are determined to outdo themselves. We are thrilled to tell you that Team StarKid will present another staged reading!
