Diagon Alley Roundup – Part 4: Shake, rattle, and roll

We were privy to two performances, a set of songs by the lovely Celestina Warbeck and the Banshees and a performance of "The Tale of the Three Brothers," as seen in "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1". Both take place in the heart of Carkitt Market, which makes up a majority of Horizont Alley. Read More »

Diagon Alley Roundup – Part 2: There’s a rumbly in my tumbly

Diagon Alley Roundup, Part 2: There's a rumbly in my tumbly

Over the last year I've eaten a few times at the Hog's Head in Hogsmeade. The food is good yet traditional, and I would say that holds true for the fare at the Leaky Cauldron. I love that Universal is providing visitors with two mostly completely different menus, new drinks, new desserts, the works. It makes both restaurants an absolute MUST for visitors. Just save room for the Butterbeer soft serve. Read More »

Book Review: It’s Kind of a Funny Story by Ned Vizzini

Harry Ron & Hermione

At the risk of sounding too much like a trailer warning for the newest episode of "Law & Order", I would like to preface this discussion by noting that the themes of "It’s Kind of a Funny Story" may be of a more sensitive nature for some people out there. Craig Gilner is a fairly typical American teenager living in New York trying insanely hard to get in to an exclusive upscale high school that will cement his high-powered future career in stone. But upon entry to the illustrious executive pre-professional high school, Craig discovers anxiety any driven young student is likely familiar with, and unfortunately, it overwhelms him to the nth degree. Movie Review: “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug” DVD/Blu-ray combo pack

The second installation of The Hobbit trilogy, The Desolation of Smaug, premiered in theaters on December 13, 2013 and has since made over $258 million dollars at the box office. It's an impressive film, the one I prefer of the two, actually. There is said to be hours upon hours of special feature footage out there from the entire process - but you won't find any of it on the April 8th release of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug DVD/Blu-Ray Combo Pack.
